OUR PRACTICE HISTORY

Dr Robert Kirkby and his family moved to Narromine in 1969 after being invited to open a medical practice to assist Dr Keith McLachlan. They worked tirelessly alongside each other to provide excellent patient care to Narromine and its surrounding area until Dr McLachlan retired in 1997.

Over the years Dr Kirkby mentored many trainee Doctors and in 1990 Dr Dean Wright joined the practice after finishing his training in Narromine and England.

In 2007 following a long-time dream they managed to secure a grant and build the Narromine Shire Family Health Centre, securing health care in Narromine with medical, dental and pathology in a purpose-built centre.

Dr Kirkby and Dr Wright continued their practice of training students, employing nurses, and providing high quality continuing care to patients in Narromine and surrounding areas until Dr Wright move to Newcastle in 2015 and Dr Kirkby retired in 2017. Thus, leaving a legacy for the students they had mentored to become owners of the practice.
